A message for residents from the SODC waste collection team:

Dear parish council colleagues,

The extreme temperatures this week have meant Biffa’s waste crews have not been able to work as quickly as normal and so one or two collection rounds weren’t completed on the hottest days. This may have a knock-on effect all week, so if your bins are not emptied on your normal day this week, please leave them out for two days after your scheduled collection (including Saturday and Sunday) and the crews will aim to catch up later in the week. Also thanks to all the residents with bin days at the start of the week who put their bins out the night before collections were due on Monday and Tuesday. This helped Biffa start their waste collections at 5am on those days so that their crews could reduce the time spent out at the hottest time in the afternoons.
