Major water leak at Heyford Hill roundabout
Stadhampton Parish Council
Updated Wednesday 5 October from Oxfordshire County Council website:
A burst water main at the Heyford Hill roundabout on the Oxford Ring Road has resulted in no water or low pressure to households and businesses in OX1, OX2, OX3, OX4, OX9, OX14, OX33, OX44 and HP18.
This has led to the closure of the A4142 Eastern Bypass eastbound from Heyford Hill to Rose Hill Roundabout. Other road closures have now been lifted.
Drivers are asked to avoid travelling into Oxford as many roads are congested.
Thames Water is leading on repairing the problem and working together with us and a number of partner organisations to support residents affected.
The water supply disruption is expected to continue into Thursday (6 October).
Two bottled water stations at the locations below have been set up and will be open until 9pm. Rolling deliveries are taking place throughout the day to keep both stations stocked up:
- Tesco at Cowley Retail Park (Ambassador Avenue, Oxford OX4 6XJ)
- Asda on London Road in Wheatley (OX33 1YZ)
A third will be set up depending on need. Residents affected are encouraged to support and check-in on any vulnerable neighbours, particularly in the collection of water required.
Updates from Thames Water will be provided on Twitter @thameswater and traffic updates will be provided @OxonTravel as the incident progresses.
Any additional information about the incident will be published on Thames Water's website. Water customers can also report problems with their water supply.
Schools in the affected areas will open today but may need to close as the incident progresses. Parents are advised to check for any updates on our school closures webpage.
