Health walks

It's an exciting time for health walks!

If you haven't heard about health walks already, it's a community project which involves setting up programmes of walks in local communities.  The scheme is all about helping people who don't get much exercise (for whatever reason) to get out and improve their fitness.

All walks are led by experienced, friendly walk leaders who will welcome you to the group and support you on your walk. One walk leader walks at the front of the group and another at the back so that all paces can be accommodated.

Walks are graded so you can start with the shortest distance and gradually build up as you get fitter and more confident.

  • First Steps - a flat, easy walk for beginners, 1 - 2 miles
  • Grade C - gentle hills with no stiles, 2 - 3 miles
  • Grade B - moderate hills and/or stiles, 3 - 4 miles
  • Grade A - steep hills and stiles, 4 - 5 miles

There are Health Walks in Sonning Common, Benson, Chalgrove, Wheatley, Goring, Didcot and Henley.  New walkers are always welcome to join. For more information look at the SODC website and/or the walk timetable.
